Goodyear, NASCAR Canada at Trois-Riviers

L.P. Dumoulin lost the lead once, but when he reclaimed the lead of the JuliaWine.com Le 50 Tours NASCAR Canadian Tire Series event, he stayed in front.

Dumoulin started second on the street circuit venue and led the first four laps. He grabbed the lead a second time on lap 20 and held off a furious race behind him to secure his second series victory of the season.

Like every race in the Canadian Tire Series, the annual Trois Rivieres test was completed on Goodyear bias-ply racing tires. Goodyear is the exclusive tire supplier for the Canadian Series as well as for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and West. The competitors in all three programs use tires from the same line of Goodyear Eagles, allowing teams to compete in more than one of the three series secure in the knowledge that they have experience with the tire package they’ll be using.

Dumoulin had to fend off the advances of road racing ace Andrew Ranger, who finished second in an East race at Watkins Glen earlier in the weekend. Ranger finished second to Dumoulin, too. Kerry Micks finished third after leading for 16 laps. J.F. Dumoulin, the winner’s brother, took fourth and J.R. Fitzpatrick came home fifth.

Organizers were forced to end the race due to time constraints when the field was stopped by a red flag following a crash that came during an attempted green-white-checkers finish.

L.P. Dumoulin leads the standings with 299 points. Fitzpatrick is next with 273.

Goodyear employs about 69,000 people at manufacturing plants and facilities in 22 nations. Based in Akron, Ohio, Goodyear is among the largest tiremakers in the world and is the worldwide leader in race tire innovation.
