Nothing Slowing Down GEICO Honda Star Tomac Heading To Indiana

Adding to his hot streak of podium finishes this season, GEICO Honda 450cc rider Eli Tomac will look to move up a couple of slots and bring home another 450 moto win this Saturday at the Thor Indiana National at Iron Man MX Park.

"My expectations are definitely to do better than third this week," Tomac said. "Unadilla was kind of a disappointment for me in the end. Even though I got third I really thought I was going to move up a step or two on the podium.

"I can't really complain though. The GEICO Honda is running great and has been consistent at every track we have been on this year. Hopefully, I can grab another win for the team; they deserve it."

Even with all the momentum Tomac has built up since his return to the circuit, the Thor Indiana National will be a challenge for the rider. Never having set foot on the course before, he hopes to acclimate quickly to put himself ahead of the competition.

"Going to a new track, everyone has to learn the same way," Tomac said. "I just try to adapt to a new course as quick as I can by getting good, consistent laps early on in practice. The hope is to be used to the track before the actual race.

"Indiana is a clean slate for everyone. No one is really going to have an advantage without having any experience on the track. We'll definitely see who is able to shine at the end of the day and hopefully it's us."

As the 2014 Pro Motocross season comes to a close, Tomac won't slow down anytime soon. For the second year in a row, he is one of three riders chosen to represent the United States in the 2014 FIM Motocross of Nations, Sept. 27-28, in Kegums, Latvia.

"It will be my second year representing the United States," Tomac said. "The way last year went was a bit of a bummer for me. I had a big crash and I feel like I kind of lost it for the team. The good news though is I get to go back and try again. It's a real honor.

"I feel better-prepared for this year's Motocross of Nations. The track seems to suit me well, so we will see how it goes. I'm confident we won't come up short this year."

With hopes of another 450 moto win, Tomac will challenge the competitors in the first moto at 1 p.m. ET, with live coverage on MAVTV. Coverage of the second 450 moto will be live at 3 p.m. on ProMotocross.com with delayed coverage on NBCSN at 5 p.m.
