Forne, Fontes Defend Their Lead Across Hostile Territory

Álvaro Fontes and Toni Forné don´t take a break even on summer, as they both approach a new race meeting next weekend in the Radical European Masters, their main goal in 2014. After Hungaroring, back in July, Forné and Fontes consolidated their championship lead in the SR3RS class, with the prototype entered by Speed Factory Racing. But, as it did at Brands Hatch in May, the Spanish duo will have a fierce opposition from the British drivers taking into account their experience at the track in Northamptonshire. Fortunately, unlike Brands Hatch, either Fontes or Forné have previously raced at Silverstone, and it will be a great help to them.

“Silverstone is a well-known track as I raced there last season and England´s drivers are specialists. But we are extremely strong and I think victories aren´t out of reach. We are eying to clinch the title later this season, so Silverstone is another step in order to achieve that target”, Fontes – a driver born in Malaga- explains. Similarly, his Gerona-born teammate adds that “our major objective is to finish on the podium both races. Álvaro and I know Silverstone, and our moral is high as we lead the drivers´ standings. Silverstone has a fast layout, and they are my favorite kind of circuits! Anyway there will be a huge number of British drivers, because the event counts towards the European and English championships, and they will make things pretty tough out there. In spite of both championships have separate races many drivers, including myself, will take part in both. We want to finish on the rostrum twice, even when our handicap isn´t a benefit”.

The races are scheduled on Saturday and Sunday.
