The 22-year-old Japanese rider is aiming to sit down with his technicians tonight in a bid to slice a further two seconds from his lap time tomorrow. At the head of the pack today were team-mates Esteve Rabat and Mika Kallio, closely followed by Sandro Cortese.

Tetsuta Nagashima, Teluru team JiR Webike’s rider

“I have had quite a positive feeling so far considering that it's only my first day riding at Brno. It's a beautiful track but very difficult to find the best line as it's very wide. As always I just concentrate to learn the track today, trying to find a good rider on the track to follow to learn the good line. Due to the rain at the beginning of the afternoon session, I could not push hard initially, but as soon as the track dried, I could immediately improve my lap time from the morning, and felt comfortable on the bike except struggling lack of rear grip as always. Now I will work with my mechanics regarding the data, and will find the best setting for tomorrow to go two seconds quicker at least so I'm looking forward tomorrow practices.”
