Simeon Makes Progress With New Suter Chassis At Brno. Baldassarri 26th

Xavier Siméon and the Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 kicked off today in Brno the first two practice sessions of the Czech Republic Grand Prix: the Belgian rider used for the first time a new chassis provided by Suter, feeling immediately comfortable and closing the combined classification in 14th position with a lap time of 2’03”870.

Inside the Team Gresini Moto2 garage, Lorenzo Baldassarri has instead struggled to find a good set-up for his Suter, before closing the day in 26th position with a time of 2’05”163: the 17-year-old Italian rider tomorrow will try to solve the understeer issues faced today.

XAVIER SIMEON (14th - 2'03"870)
“Today went quite well: from this morning we are using a new Suter chassis which gave me really good feelings. Unfortunately, this afternoon we couldn’t take advantage of all of the second free practice session, because it dried out only in the final stages: I wanted to get a better lap time, but to be the first day with a new chassis, we can be satisfied: I can ride with more confidence and now we just need a little bit of time to reach the best set-up and find some more rear grip, which is still lacking. I'm happy, the first impression is really positive”.

LORENZO BALDASSARRI (26th - 2'05"163)
“Today was a tough day: this morning I had some problems that we couldn’t fix, and this afternoon, when the track dried out, we continued to struggle. On this track you need a good cornering speed and then act soon as possible on the accelerator, but I’m struggling with understeer and therefore I can’t open the gas early. In this situation is easy to lose ground without even realizing it. Tomorrow we will work on the bike set-up to try and solve these problems”.

“Siméon felt immediately good sensations riding the new chassis provided by Suter: obviously so far we have made only one day of testing, so tomorrow we will better understand how to exploit its potential, but overall it's not bad as a start; we are convinced that this technical update will allow Xavier to take a step forward in terms of performance. Baldassarri today struggled more with some set-up problems that led him to suffer from understeer. Tomorrow we will have to work hard if we want to improve”.
