Simeon Scores Two Points In A Difficult Race At Brno Bad Luck For Baldassarri

The Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 leaves the Czech Republic with the two points of the 14th position, claimed today at Brno by Xavier Siméon. The Belgian rider experienced a difficult weekend, struggling more than expected with the new Suter chassis he used since the first free practice session. Starting from the 20th position, however, Siméon was able to recover several positions, improving his lap times in the second half of the race.

Lorenzo Baldassarri’s race aboard the Team Gresini Moto2 Suter only lasted a few corners: the 17-year-old Italian has been knocked out of the race by Wild Card rider Lucas Mahias, who crashed at Turn 3 on the first lap. Lorenzo was hit by Mahias’ bike and he could not prevent the fall, in which he also sustained a dislocated left shoulder.

XAVIER SIMEON (14th)
“For sure this is not the result we were looking for, but we tried a new Suter chassis this weekend and we struggled more than expected. I started the race from behind and after Indianapolis where I was very aggressive from the first lap and I crashed, I decided to keep calm and not use my full potential from the beginning. I couldn’t ride at hundred per cent, and this was a little bit frustrating, but we didn’t want to pay for other mistakes. In the latter part of the race I could ride more comfortably, I reached the group of riders in front of me, and in the end we took two points; it’s not what we want, but it’s better than zero, like happened in Indianapolis. I would like to thank all the team because is supporting me a lot and this is making me stronger: we keep working for the upcoming races”.

LORENZO BALDASSARRI (Rit.)
“Right after the start, at Turn 3, Lucas Mahias lost the front end and crashed: his bike hit me, making me going down. I couldn’t do anything to avoid it and in the fall I also dislocated my left shoulder ... It’s been a disastrous weekend, there’s nothing much to say. At the moment I’m not feeling pain in the shoulder, so now I’m already looking forward to the next race”.

FAUSTO GRESINI
“Despite starting from the 20th position, Siméon today was able to collect some points, but we got another result below our expectations. Too bad for Baldassarri, who was knocked out after a few corners: in the fall he also sustained a dislocated shoulder; nothing serious, but it’s disappointing when these things happen”.
