Driving the No. 17 Automatic Fire Sprinklers, Inc. - KV AFS Racing Chevrolet/Dallara/Firestone machine, Saavedra made his third start at the historic Milwaukee Mile. He qualified 21st yesterday and maintained his position for the first 10 laps before losing a place while he settled into the race. He got a great first stop from his KV AFS crew, who managed to add some front wing without losing time and Saavedra rejoined the race with a little more pace and feeling slightly more comfortable. Despite being down two laps, Saavedra was able to still move up some positions, but with only one yellow flag, was unable to get his laps back. By lap 168, Saavedra was sitting in 18th, but dropped one position when he made his final pit stop on lap 193. He regained the position 10 laps later when he passed James Hinchcliffe and was able to stay there until the checkered flag.

"It was a very long race," said Saavedra. "We were expecting the Automatic Fire Sprinklers - KV AFS Racing car to be the same as it has been all week, which is with a lot of understeer. Unfortunately the first stint of the race really sent us backwards. The crew were able to do a great first stop, which made the car better and give me more pace, but unfortunately it was too late by then and I just needed to stay out of trouble. We will move on and focus on the last two races and get back to where we deserve to be."

Saavedra has now made his 21st IndyCar oval starts with a best finish of 13th at Milwaukee last year. He earned 12 points today, which puts him 21st in the championship standings with 251 points.

KV AFS Racing head to Sonoma Raceway next weekend for the final road/street course of the 2014 Verizon IndyCar Series season. The GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma, August 23-24, will be broadcast live on NBCSports from 4 p.m. ET. on Sunday 24th August. The race broadcast will also be on XM 209, IMS IndyCar Radio affiliates, plus IndyCar.com and the Verizon INDYCAR 14 app.
