Late Race Incident Results in 13th Place Finish for Newberry

Brennan Newberry and the No.24 Qore-24 team took to Virginia International Raceway (VIR) for the first time on Friday during the promoters test day. Newberry who has raced at Sonoma, Watkins Glen, and Canadian Tire Motorsports Park said "VIR is completely different than anywhere I have every raced, its very technical and line sensitive."Newberry worked with veteran crew chief John Monsam on what the two could do to improve for Saturday's second annual Biscuitville 125.

Newberry continued to work with Monsam throughout Saturday as he continued to improve each time on the track during the mornings dual 45 minute practice sessions. When the green flag waved Newberry got into his rhythm and broke inside the top-15 before the first caution flag flew at lap 19. Newberry pitted under order of NASCAR to check for smoke, after discovering it only being from the tailpipes he was cleared to go back on track. Newberry would restart just inside the top-20 at lap 21 but work his way back into the top-15 before the halfway break. After an adjustment during the halfway break, Newberry restarted 14th at lap 29, and back lap 34 was knocking on the door of the top-10. The caution flag flew once again at lap 44 after a quick clean the field received the green at lap 47, Newberry with a great restart misses a spinning car in turn one and cracks inside the top-5.

With the caution flag flying once again at lap 48, set Newberry back into 8th. The green flag was once again displayed at lap 51 and Newberry works his way back toward the top-5 before getting collected into an incident in turn 1. Newberry would pit to repair damage and salvage the best finish possible. After a crazy green white checkered finish, Newberry brings home a 13th place finish in the second annual Biscuitville 125.

Brennan Newberry's Post Race Thoughts:
"I had high hopes entering the Biscuitville 125 road race at Virginia International Raceway. I had confidence from the previous weekend at Watkins Glen as we went with the same prepared car. Unfortunately, the car didn't respond the same to VIR as it did at The Glen. We were forced to change the setup and the team game plan after the first session on track. We did get the car where I needed it for the race but restarts kept bunching up the field and ultimately, was my undoing for a strong finish after we made our way into the top five. I am always proud of my Qore-24 Chevrolet Impala team and we are all keeping our heads high and look to finish out the season strong.

John Monsam's Post Race Thoughts:
"It was definitely an interesting weekend for us at VIR after getting into an incident in practice with a slower car. We used up a lot of practice time working on repairing the damage and we knew that we needed more speed going into qualifying. We made a few changes but didn't get the spot we wanted but Brennan was getting faster and learned more about the track each time out. During the race we kept getting better and better, passing consistently, and were running times faster than the leaders. We were forced to start all over again after being called into the pits. We were making our way through the field as cautions kept coming out and reverted us back to the previous lap after making passes. On the last restart, looking to get back into the top five, we got caught up in a spin and had to simply survive until the end. As always I am very proud of Brennan, he kept his head up and kept digging until the end, and my NTS Motorsports No.24 team worked hard all weekend and gave us a fast Chevrolet Impala."
