A week earlier, Heckert won at Watkins Glen.

Just as he did a week earlier, Heckert raced on Goodyear Eagle bias-ply racing tires. Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for both the K&N East and West series, supplying tires for both programs from the same line of tires. The road racing tire package used at VIR and Watkins Glen is the same package supplied to the other road races the two series compete in, allowing drivers to race interchangeably secure in the knowledge that they are accustomed to the tires they are using.

There were five lead changes during the race at VIR and Heckert led at the beginning and the end, a total of 11 laps out of the 60-lap event.

Cameron Hayley finished second after leading 25 laps. Austin Hill was third, followed by Gray Gaulding and Kaz Grala. The winner averaged 60.5 mph for the race distance after winning the pole position with a qualifying lap averaging 91.792 mph.

Ben Rhodes leads the series with 570 points. Hayley is next with 505.

Goodyear employs about 69,000 people at manufacturing plants and facilities in 22 nations. Based in Akron, Ohio, Goodyear is among the largest tiremakers in the world and is the worldwide leader in race tire innovation.
