WRC Promoter GmbH Extends Contract - Michelin To Remain FIA World Rally Championship Partner Until 2016

Important deal for WRC: cooperation between MANUFACTURE FRANCAISE DES PNEUMATIQUES MICHELIN (Michelin), Clermont-Ferrand, France, and WRC Promoter GmbH, Munich, has been extended up to and including the 2016 WRC season.

Michelin has been a partner of the FIA World Rally Championship (as official tyre supplier of the FIA World Rally Championship) for many years, supplying tyres to most of the participating rally teams. The cooperation, which has been extended until 2016, includes a comprehensive “visibility package” with TV-relevant banners along the race circuits and logo integration when results are displayed on-screen while the rally is being broadcast. In addition to this there is customised integration with the comprehensive WRC digital service with editorial articles as well as a promotional presence at www.wrc.com. Michelin also intensively uses WRC audio and visual content on its own websites, www.michelinmotorsport.com and http://fr.best-of-rallylive.com, as well as on its own social media channels.

Oliver Ciesla, Managing Director of WRC Promoter, commented: “We are delighted to continue to have Michelin at our side as a partner. We can guarantee Michelin an attractive environment at the stages, in the service park and on television. From the start of the current season, we have been able to significantly increase the transmission times compared to last season and thanks to our media strategy involving more live action. Michelin, as a WRC partner, profits from this development.”

Pascal COUASNON Michelin Motorsport Director said: “This extension of our partnership with WRC was a logical step for us to take. The FIA World Rally Championship offers an authentic environment for Michelin to demonstrate the quality and endurance of our tyres, often under the most extreme conditions. This cooperation also facilitates a significant global media visibility throughout almost the entire year. In 2013, more than 600 million fans worldwide followed the WRC on TV and more than three million visited the rallies on site. These numbers speak for themselves and we are waiting for other improvement”.
