Ian James (Phoenix, Ariz) and Mario Farnbacher (Ansbach, Germany) have shown a lot of speed in the last two races, but circumstances have prohibited a finish to match the speed. The 3.2-mile, 18-turn track is a driver favorite as it combines just about every turn a grand prix track can contain. The entire 3.2-mile length was recently repaved which will add to the speed and grip of the surface. In addition, the race will feature just the 19 GTD cars and 10 GTLM cars with no prototypes racing this weekend. James will once again have to tutor young Farnbacher as this will be his first visit to VIR.

"It has been a while since I raced at VIR, but the track has always been good to me with race wins in the Continental Series," James said. "The track is definitely a high downforce circuit and maybe that is one of the weaker areas of the Porsche. But, the Alex Job Racing Porsches are always up front and I expect the same at VIR. We have been a contender every race. It will be great to have a GT only event with no prototypes. I believe this is what a lot of people in America think is the best aspect of sports car racing - a pure GT race with the GTLM and GTD fields battling it out sounds like a recipe for success."

For Farnbacher it is more homework to learn a new circuit.

"I have my folder with a track map that I make notes about every corner," Farnbacher said. "I get input from my brother Dominick and Ian is a big help. The team also has a lot of data since they have won there before with Porsche. The track looks fast, especially through the esses, which looks very challenging. It is going to be fun racing with just the GT cars. It will be nice to catch a clean lap. I am excited to drive another new circuit and have a good result this weekend."

Alex Job, team owner, likes the 23 chances this weekend.

"I think that Ian and Mario are going to have a good weekend at VIR," Job said. "The track is very fast and young Mario has really impressed me with how fast he learns a new track. Ian is a seasoned veteran and is doing a great job mentoring Mario this year. I think they will have a strong run this weekend at VIR, they are due."

The TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Oak Tree Grand Prix round eight, Aug. 22-24 will be broadcast starting at 4:00 p.m. ET Sunday. Live race streaming can be viewed at IMSA.com or on the FOX Sports GO mobile app. The live radio broadcast will air on the Motor Racing Network on IMSA.com, MRN.com, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (Channel 90).
