2014 Bristol II: Justin Allgaier NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Preview

Back to Bristol...Justin Allgaier will make his second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) this Saturday night. He finished 17th in his first NSCS race at BMS in March. Allgaier has 10 starts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) at BMS, with one win in March 2010 and one Coors Light Pole Award in March 2013. He also has three top-five and five top-10 finishes at the 0.533-mile oval, along with 91 laps led in the NNS. Steve Addington, crew chief of the No. 51, has two wins at BMS, both with Kyle Busch in 2009.

Meet Justin...Allgaier will appear at the BMS Fan Zone stage on Friday, August 22 at 3:15 - 3:35 p.m. EDT for a Q&A session.

Michigan II Recap...Allgaier made his second NSCS start at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) this past weekend. Allgaier earned the 17th starting position, tying his starting position earlier this season at MIS. Unfortunately, an early accident caused major damage to Allgaier's No. 51 machine and sent him to the garage for lengthy repairs. After returning to the track 72 laps down, Allgaier completed the race in the 42nd position in the BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevrolet for HScott Motorsports.

Sunoco Rookie of the Year...After graduating to the NSCS this season, Allgaier is competing for Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors in the No. 51 BRANDT Chevy. In 2009, Allgaier took home the Rookie of the Year title in the NNS. After Michigan, Allgaier is currently third in the standings, behind Kyle Larson and Austin Dillon.

Justin Allgaier on Bristol Motor Speedway:
"I always look forward to Bristol [Motor Speedway] weekend. For whatever reason, I've really taken to the track; I guess a win early in my career helped with that. We had a great race here earlier this year and I hope we can repeat the same, or finish even better. We got caught up in someone else's mess last weekend at Michigan [International Speedway], so I'm ready to get back on the track and put that behind us. The one downside about Bristol is it's either feast or famine. I think it's more of a crapshoot than the superspeedway races are. If we can stay out of accidents this weekend, I'll think we will do great."

Crew Chief Steve Addington on Bristol Motor Speedway:
"We are going to Bristol [Motor Speedway] for the second time this season, so we have a good notebook to work from with Justin. He did well there in the spring and he really likes short tracks, so I think we will have a good result this weekend as long we don't get caught in a mess."

About Competition Director and Crew Chief Steve Addington:
Spartanburg, S.C. native Steve Addington joined HScott Motorsports in January 2014 as competition director and crew chief for the No. 51 BRANDT Chevrolet SS. Steve comes to the team from Stewart-Haas Racing, where he spent the past two seasons as crew chief on the No. 14 team and earned four wins with Tony Stewart. Addington also served as a Sprint Cup Series crew chief at Team Penske and Joe Gibbs Racing, racking up a total of 20 wins in the series. Addington began his career working on dirt cars and is a former Nationwide Series crew chief. Addington resides in China Grove, N.C. with his wife Katie and has three children.
