Percat has climbed up to 18th in the closely fought championship sitting just 91 points behind 12th-placed Michael Caruso, with 300 points on offer at each event.

This weekend sees the new generation V8 Supercars racing at Sydney Motorsport Park for the first time, although all teams participated in the pre-season testing at the western Sydney circuit in February this year.

With his the recent success motivating both Percat and his HHA Racing V8 Supercar team, they will be out to snare another top ten result this at the final sprint race before the first of the PIRTEK Enduro Cup races commence at Sandown three weeks later.

“We are all pumped for this weekend after the excellent weekends at both Townsville and Queensland Raceway. “It’s all going well and a big credit must go to Alex (Car Manager) and Ty (Performance Engineer) with how they’ve approached working with me and the great relationship we’ve got already.

“I’ve had success there in the Porsche Carrera Cup and in Formula Ford, so hopefully that will continue and we can come away with another top ten finish”.

In the Touring Car Masters, Coates Hire ambassador John Bowe is looking to cementing his championship lead after a successful last outing at Hidden Valley in Darwin.

There he topped the timesheets in both practice sessions, scored pole position, won two of the three races to take the points for the round.

Bowe will spend the weekend swapping between his Touring Car Masters Mustang and the Ferrari GT3 he, Peter Edwards, Craig Lowndes and Mika Salo drove to victory in this year’s Bathurst 12-Hour race. Bowe and Edwards will team up for the Australian GT Championship round.

“While both the Mustang and the Ferrari are left hand drive, the Ferrari is about as hi tech as you can get whereas the Mustang is about as low tech as you can get”, said Bowe.

“The Ferrari has paddle shifts, ABS brakes and lots of aero while the Mustang has none of that and has a four-speed H-pattern gearbox so it’s a massive contrast. At turn one in the Ferrari you lift off the throttle after you’ve turned, no braking and straight back onto the throttle while in the Mustang it’s hard on the brakes at 150 metres and down a gear, so I hope I don’t forget which one I am in”, he quipped.
