Christian PaHud Wins and Finishes Fifth at Florence; Preparing For K&N West Start

Peak Stock Car Dream Challenge winner Christian PaHud won the first of the two 50-lap Limited Late Model features at Florence Motor Speedway in Florence, South Carolina last Saturday and finished fifth in the second one.

Christian, who is also preparing for his first start in NASCAR's K&N Pro Series West at All American Speedway in October, was pleased with the way the night unfolded at Florence.

"Anytime you can get a win, it's always special," he said. "People think this sport is easy but no matter what you're racing there's always tough competition. That's definitely the case here. We had 26 cars tonight and Strom Altman, Sr. gave me all the competition I wanted in that first race. We swapped the lead back and forth quite a bit. I hope the fans enjoyed that as much as I did! That's fun racing when you can do that and be respectful of each other."

The team ran into an issue with a "stud" on the right front hub just before they were to get in line for their second feature. They were joined by members of other teams in trying to get the problem solved in time to race, and with everyone's help the No. 63 was able to answer the call when it was time.

Christian started eighth and began to work his way through the field from the get-go. He had worked his way to third when the tires on his machine began to give out.

Though he gave it his best effort to stay within striking distance of the leaders, he fell back in the closing laps to fifth at the checkers due to the tire issue.

"I just cannot say thank you enough to everyone who pitched in to help us get ready for the second race," Christian said afterward. "There were so many people that I would be afraid of leaving someone out if I started naming names. We are just grateful to be able to have raced this one and finished in the top five. The car was strong early, but we had to do a lot of side-by-side racing in the first 25-laps to get to third. That's what hurt us as far as the tires. We're happy with a win and a fifth tonight."

PaHud Motorsports is working on plans for future starts with the Limited Late Model while Christian also begins to prepare for his first ever start in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West with Bill McAnally Racing in October.

He is scheduled to race at All American Speedway on October 11th and is expected to test there the week prior.

The opportunity comes courtesy of him being chosen as the 2014 winner of the Peak Stock Car Dream Challenge, and he hopes it will be the first of several opportunities in the car.

"I just want to go out there, learn as much as I can and finish the race," Christian said. "I know with Bill McAnally, Michael (Waltrip) and the rest of the team I will have plenty of people around me who can help me to get up to speed and do my best. If all goes well, maybe there will be more races after that. I'm thankful to be able to have this opportunity and I want to make the best of it for everyone who has supported me and helped me through the years to get to this point. I can't wait to get out there!"
