WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY

Jamie McMurray and No. 1 McDonald’s Team

MIS Recap: The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) returned to the Irish Hills of Michigan and Michigan International Speedway (MIS). Jamie McMurray started the Pure Michigan 400 from the ninth position in the McDonald’s Chevrolet SS. McMurray posted an average running position of 8.32 throughout the 200-lap race before crossing the finish line with a 14th place result.

McMurray at Bristol: McMurray has made 23 NSCS starts at Bristol Motor Speedway. In those starts he has three top-five and nine top-10 finishes. He has completed 11,203 of 11,516 (97.3%) laps of competition and led 31 laps. He has a best starting position of third (August 2007) and a best finish of third on two occasions (August 2004, August 2010). McMurray has qualified in the top-10 on nine occasions at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) where he has an average start of 16.6 and an average finish of 17.8. In his last 10 starts at Bristol, McMurray has finished in the top-20 eight times.

Golden Arches: McDonald’s will be back as the primary sponsor on the No. 1 Chevy SS this weekend at BMS. There is no reason to go hungry on your way to the track, McDonald’s has several locations near BMS, including the closest restaurant located at 2260 Tennessee 364, Blountville, Tenn. (423) 323-8999

Kyle Larson and No. 42 Target Team

MIS Recap: In the second race this season at Michigan International Speedway (MIS), things did not go as planned for Kyle Larson and Team Target. The weekend started off well with the team making steady improvements on the Target Chevy during practices to have a fast car ready for the race. Unfortunately, the car sustained damage from contact with another car early in the race while leaving pit road and a blown tire just before the midpoint of the 200-lap event ultimately forced Larson out of the race and resulted in a 43rd place finish.

Larson at Bristol: Larson has made one NSCS start at Bristol Motor Speedway earlier this season, where he started 20th and finished 10th. The top-10 finish was the first of Larson’s career in the NSCS. He also has three previous Nationwide Series starts at BMS, where he has three top-fives, two runner-up finishes and one pole. Larson has completed 100% of all laps attempted at BMS.

Racing and Reporting: Larson will serve as an “In-Race Reporter” Saturday night during the live broadcast on ABC via the Sunoco in-car camera. Larson will give an on-track reporting of race conditions before the green flag is dropped and under select yellow flag conditions.

A Shopping Bullseye: If you have made it to the race only to find out you’ve forgotten to pack a few necessities, there’s no need to worry. For all your last minute needs and forgotten items, Target has all of the essentials and more. The nearest Target is located at 16600 Highlands Center Blvd, Bristol, Va. and can be reached at (276) 642-6300. Call ahead and make sure they have what you need.
