Confidence Sky-High As Robb Holland Prepares For Knockhill Return

Robb Holland’s confidence is sky-high and more points are on the agenda as the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) moves on to Scotland’s Knockhill circuit for Rounds 19, 20 and 21 of the 2014 season (23-24 August).

Holland was justifiably optimistic going to Snetterton after Rotek Racing used the mid-summer break to fettle and refine its new-for-2014 Audi S3 saloon, ironing out the new-car teething problems that had hampered its progress in the early part of the season.

With a new-found confidence in the Oakley Motorsports-backed S3 and prior knowledge of the Snetterton ‘300’ circuit, Holland reached a significant milestone in the Norfolk countryside, scoring Rotek Racing’s first BTCC points on merit against some stiff opposition.

Britain’s premier motor racing championship now heads north of the border to Scotland’s Knockhill circuit. Defined by a unique 1.27mile layout that features high kerbs and constant elevation changes, it is renowned for producing close racing and two-wheeled acrobatics, making it a firm favourite among BTCC fans and drivers alike.

With confidence and belief at an all-time high, Holland will endeavour to “equal or better” his Snetterton performances in front of a passionate Scottish crowd at Knockhill – another circuit he has experience of.

"I’m feeling a lot more confident, mainly because the car feels a lot better,” said Holland. “However, Knockhill is a completely different circuit to the one we just left so we’ll have to see. To equal or better the Snetterton performance and score more points was always going to be the target and Rotek Racing has been pushing hard to keep the momentum going through to Knockhill. I’ve raced the circuit before and scored points in two of the three races there. I love the place, as it’s absolutely mental, you’re on it for every second of every lap and its short, technical layout requires a lot of focus and concentration. It’s immensely fun and I really enjoyed the Scottish fans – they were awesome and I’ve been looking forward to going back there since the start of the year.

“Of course, the first race at Snetterton went really well, but I then got into trouble in the final two. Rather than getting involved in any argy-bargy, I’m looking to make good progress in three clean races, using everything we learnt before, during and after Snetterton to move forwards. The fact is, the changes made to the car has given me a good feeling and we’re going in a solid direction. I think we’ll be able to better adapt and made the changes required to move onwards and upwards.”

Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) qualifying will begin at 15.05 on Saturday (23 August), while Rounds 19, 20 and 21 are scheduled for 11.45, 14.05 and 17.07 respectively on Sunday (24 August) and will be beamed live and in high definition on ITV4 and ITV4HD.
