Taylor Brothers Return to The Glen as USGVP Special Guests

Watkins Glen International is excited to welcome Ricky and Jordan Taylor of Wayne Taylor Racing back to The Glen as special guests at this year’s Glenora Wine Cellars US Vintage Grand Prix presented by Welliver, September 5-7. The event weekend will mark the 30th anniversary of historic racing at Watkins Glen International.

“I think it is fantastic that the Taylor brothers love racing and our track so much that they want to come back during this festive and historic race weekend,” stated Michael Printup, President of Watkins Glen International. “I am sure they will have a blast with the participants and the fans while they are here!”

“I am very excited about heading up to my favorite race track to see some of the historic cars on which the history of that great track is built,” said Ricky Taylor, who co-drove to a win in the 2012 Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen with Max Angelelli. “I’m looking forward to seeing really the whole event, every car and driver is as it was when they raced. I would also like to take a trip into town and see some of the old track that they will actually be using for the event; I have seen portions in the past but to see cars on it will be a cool experience to go back in time.”

The professional American sports car racing duo competes in the IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Prototype class and drive for their family-owned Wayne Taylor Racing. The brothers claimed a first place finish at the 2014 Chevrolet Sports Car Classic on the Raceway at Belle Isle in downtown Detroit, along with multiple runner-up finishes in the 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Series. Both Jordan and Ricky competed at The Glen earlier this year for the IMSA United SportsCar Championship Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, finishing fifth in the prototype division. As a highlight of the event weekend, Jordan Taylor cut off his infamous mullet for a charity event. The Taylor brother’s current season success has placed them within the top three for the 2014 championship.

The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) returns to Watkins Glen International for one of the largest vintage events in the country, the Glenora Wine Cellars US Vintage Grand Prix presented by Welliver at Watkins Glen International. Throughout the weekend, the event features cars on track with qualifying sessions on Friday, and races on Saturday and Sunday. On Friday evening, the Grand Prix Festival of Watkins Glen brings racing back to the streets, with the weekend’s competitors participating in a race reenactment in the village of Watkins Glen. Participants drive the original 6.6 mile road course in tribute to the 1948 Grand Prix.

Tickets are still available for purchase at the ticket office, online at www.TheGlen.com, or by calling 866.461.RACE. Pre-event tickets for weekend admission are $55, or $35 for Sunday-only tickets. Tickets purchased at the gate or the week of the event are $65 for weekend admission, or $45 for Sunday-only tickets. Kids and teens, 19 and under, are free. Reserved camping is still available for the weekend.

Located within five (5) hours (~300 miles) of 25% of the US population, Watkins Glen International is the premier road racing facility in the United States. Mark your calendars for Glenora Wine Cellars U.S. Vintage Grand Prix presented by Welliver, September 5-7. Tickets are available by calling 866.461.RACE or at www.TheGlen.com. Keep up with The Glen on Facebook and Twitter. Download The Glen’s free mobile app from the App Store or Google Play.
