Robert Kubica (34th) said:

“I got distracted into a tight hairpin, then straight after that there was a junction which tightened and I missed the line. We went in too fast with not enough steering angle. We slid off the road into the vineyards and the spectators helped us to get the car back onto the stage which was not easy.

“There’s not much damage on the car. The rim on one of the wheels was damaged so there were quite a few vibrations for the rest of the stage. The mechanics will check everything in service and we’ll continue to concentrate on our own rally through the afternoon loop.”
