Midday Quotes, Rallye Deutschland, Day Three

Elfyn Evans (4th) said:

“We need to do more of the same this afternoon. We’ve had very few slides and moments so if we can keep doing what we’re doing and concentrate on having a clean run it will be a very positive result for us.

“To be honest, the times are coming fairly naturally – without having to take the risks – so there’s no need to do any more than that for the moment. We won’t be going all out for the podium; there’s plenty of time for that next year.”

Mikko Hirvonen (5th) said:

“It’s not so bad. OK, we’re losing some time to Elfyn [Evans], but we’ve found it really tricky in the muddy conditions. I think we should have gone a lot softer with the set-up because we’ve struggled with the grip and we overshot two junctions in the first stage [SS15]. We’ll make a few small changes in service and see if that helps for the afternoon.”

Dennis Kuipers (8th) said:

“It’s been quite a difficult morning with some really challenging conditions. As we started the first stage [SS15] we were surprised by how good the grip was, but as soon as we got into the woods there was so much mud and the grip levels were changing all the time. The main thing is that we managed to stay on the road and out of trouble.”

Yuriy Protasov (11th) said:

“It was a difficult first stage [SS15] for us. The first part was very slippery and on a narrow section we were caught out under braking. We went off into the vines and lost about a minute. The most important thing is that we are still here. It’s important to get the kilometres and I’ll be really happy if I can finish my first event in a world rally car having already learnt so much.”
