Kyle Benjamin Scores Second-Place ARCA Finish At Madison

In his debut ARCA Series race driving for his family team, Kyle Benjamin started from the last row and finished second Sunday at Madison International Speedway.

After his car showed top-five speed in practice Saturday, qualifying was canceled due to inclement weather. By rule, Sunday's field was lined up by owner points - which Benjamin's No. 37 Ford lacked completely. That didn't prevent the 16-year-old driver in his quest for a second win at the half-mile track, the first of which made him the youngest winner in ARCA history in 2013.

Benjamin, a development driver for Roush Fenway Racing, raced his way into the top five and, when the first- and second-place racecars suffered mechanical woes late in the 200-lap event, he capitalized, placing his Roush-Yates Engines-powered Ford in the runner-up spot by the time the checkered flag dropped late Sunday afternoon.

The second-place finish was his fourth finish of seventh or better in ARCA competition this year and his 10th career top-10 finish in 14 starts over the last two seasons.

"(Today) was like a test for us. I really have to thank [crew chief] Kevin Reed and my dad for giving me a great car. We were really good on long runs. That short run late in the race was tough on us. If we would have had 40 laps at the end, we might have been able to get a little closer."
