2014 Bowmanville: Tyler Young NASCAR Truck Race Preview

For the second consecutive year, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) will cross the Canadian border to Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada for the Chevrolet Silverado 250 on Sunday, Aug. 31. The 10-turn course features long straightaways, high-speed corners, esses and elevation changes, all of which will combine to create one of the most exciting races on the 2014 NCWTS schedule. Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender Tyler Young will make his eighth track debut of 2014 at the 2.459-mile road course. While the Young's Motorsports driver has not turned a lap as a driver, he was in attendance at the inaugural event in 2013 as a spotter for road course ringer, Max Papis. Young, who has a background racing go-karts on the winding roads and tricky turns, hopes to keep his momentum going in 2014 and bring home his first top-10 finish in Sunday afternoon's Labor Day weekend show north of the border.

A penny for your thoughts: Tyler Young, Driver, No. 02 Chevrolet Silverado:
"This weekend's Truck Series race in Canada will be my first time on a road course in the series, but really road course racing is what I grew up doing, in a go-kart in Texas. Although I didn't race at Canadian Tire last year, I did spot for Max Papis who finished sixth and I feel like I learned a lot from him. The place is fast, and qualifying will be important because track position and pit strategy will be important as well. I think the guys with a little bit of road racing experience may have the upper hand, especially those who ran last year, but we're going to give them all we've got and hopefully put on a good show for all the fans."

Fast & Fun Facts:
• Young won the Sunoco Rookie of the Race award for the second consecutive week in the UNOH 200 at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway last week
• Young will make his track debut at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in Sundayafternoon's Chevrolet Silverado 250
• Young was a spotter for Max Papis in the 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 250 at CTMP, Papis finished sixth
• Calling the shots for the No. 02 Young's Motorsports team is veteran crew chief Bryan Berry. As an 11-year veteran of the NCWTS, Berry has 191 starts to his resume including one start at CTMP in 2013. His success at the 2.459-mile road course includes a third-place start, and a 13th-place finish with Mike Skeen
• Chevrolet won the inaugural Chevrolet Silverado 250 at CTMP

Chassis History:
Young's Motorsports will unload chassis No. 05 for the first time this season in Sundayafternoon's Chevrolet Silverado 250 at CTMP.

Rookie Race:
Following an 18th-place finish at Bristol, Young is a mere two points behind second-place Mason Mingus in the 2014 Sunoco Rookie of the Year battle. The Young's Motorsports driver trails leader Ben Kennedy by 42 points.

Rearview Mirror - Bristol:
Young made his third start in the UNOH 200 at Bristol. After qualifying 26th, the Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender ran as high as eighth and as low as 27th before crossing the line in the 18th position, a track-best finish for the Young's Motorsports driver. The solid effort marked Young's eighth top-20 finish of the 2014 NCWTS season.

Truck Series Fast Facts:
• 2014 marks Young's first full-time season in the NCWTS
• Young has made 24 starts in the series since 2012
