Next Stop Silverstone For The Team Federail Oil Gresini Moto2

The European campaign of the 2014 Moto2 World Championship resumes this weekend with the British Grand Prix at the historic Silverstone circuit. Born as a military RAF airfield, the Northamptonshire track is the longest on the calendar with its 5,900 meters, as well as one of the fastest.

Following the excellent pace showed during the race at Brno, Xavier Siméon heads to England with high spirits: the Belgian rider, 14th under the chequered flag in Czech Republic, will try first of all to be stronger in qualifying, in order to start the race in a more advanced position.

On the other side of the garage, Lorenzo Baldassarri will be back aboard the Team Gresini Moto2 Suter, trying to redeem a very unlucky weekend: the Italian rookie has in fact been able to make only a few corners in Brno, before being bumped out of the race by Wild Card rider Lucas Mahias. The target for Baldassarri - who in the fall has dislocated his left shoulder - is to return to fight for the top ten, a goal that has already proved to be within its reach both in Barcelona and Assen.

XAVIER SIMEON “In Brno we experienced a difficult weekend, especially in qualifying, when we struggled more than expected. As a result I started the race from a bad position on the grid, and this has been a big disadvantage, even though actually in the second half of the race my lap times were very good, not very far from those of the first. We arrive at Silverstone after a race in which we have been able to gain experience with the new Suter chassis, so we are confident of being able to exploit its potential now, and return to a good level of competitiveness, also because I like the track a lot. It will be important, however, try to be quick since Friday and especially in qualifying, otherwise it becomes difficult to recover positions in the race”.

LORENZO BALDASSARRI “The recovery from the injury to my left shoulder sustained at Brno is going well, so at Silverstone I should not have major difficulties in terms of physical conditions: I feel good and I want to get back to fight. It will be important to keep a good pace right from Friday practice: the goal is to stay in the top 15, then it would be nice to fight for the top ten in the race, as happened in Barcelona and Assen”.

FAUSTO GRESINI “Also in Brno we collected less than expected, although Siméon in the second half of the race he was able to keep a good pace, and this thing bodes well ahead of Silverstone: in the last Grand Prix Xavier used for the first time a new Suter chassis which seems to provide a real improvement in terms of performance, so we expect that now we can exploit this advantage and reverse the trend also in terms of results. Baldassarri comes from a very unfortunate race, in which he also suffered a dislocation of the shoulder: recently, Lorenzo struggled more than usual in qualifying, so the main focus for him will be to improve on this area”.
