Tetsuta Nagashima Hoping For 'Best Of British' This Weekend

Young Japanese racer Tetsuta Nagashima arrives at Silverstone this weekend for his first taste of action at the British Grand Prix.

The 22-year old will get his experience of the 3.66-mile circuit, which is the current home of the British Grand Prix, round 12 of this year’s World Championship. A round of the championship has been held in the UK since the first year of the series in 1949 and the first motorcycle grand prix held at Silverstone took place in 1977 on a shorter circuit. Silverstone was replaced by Donington Park from 1986 until 2010, when MotoGP returned but on the longer Silverstone track.

Overall, Silverstone is a fast track, offering plenty of opportunities for overtaking. Sunday’s Moto2 race will cover 18 laps.

Tetsuta Nagashima, Teluru team JiR Webike’s rider

"I'm feeling that the time flies so fast and we had already done more than half races of the year, and I'm a bit upset that I'm still not getting any points so far. I'd been feeling that I've been making the steady improvements needed since the start of the year, and the gap with the top group was reducing until the last race at Brno, as at Brno I felt like I'd made a backward step as the gap had gotten bigger again. I have given a lot of thought about what had gone on in Brno and I'm trying to think again about how I shall improve for the rest of the year. As always, I'm learning the track by watching the images and video from last year and trying to remember the best line in my head as I've heard that to ride on the correct line will be very important at Silverstone as the track is wide, quite bumpy and I would like to make steady steps forward again towards Sunday and the race.”
