Simeon And Baldassarri Quite Happy After First Day Of Pratice Of The British GP

Today at Silverstone Xavier Siméon and the Team Federail Oil Gresini Moto2 completed the first day of free practice of the British Grand Prix with the 18th fastest time, 2’09”682. Despite the result, the Belgian declared himself satisfied with the work done and is still optimistic ahead of tomorrow’s qualifying: Xavier has indeed found a good feeling with the bike and he’s confident he can recover several positions.

There is satisfaction also in the Team Gresini Moto2 garage, where Lorenzo Baldassarri managed to keep a good rhythm aboard his Suter machine, even though the final lap time of the young Italian rookie – 2’09”902 – at the moment puts him only in 21st position, also due to a mistake on his last fast lap, in the afternoon session.

XAVIER SIMEON (18th - 2'09"682)
“The final position is not good, but I’m quite satisfied with today’s outcome because I immediately felt a better feeling with the bike compared to Brno. This means that we are going the right way: we’re not one hundred percent, obviously, but we must continue to maintain a positive attitude to find a solution to our problems quickly. The new Suter chassis is giving us some more trouble than expected, so we still cannot exploit its potential advantage, but it must be said that during race weekends there is not much time to work on the set-up. In any case, I already feel quite at ease, so tomorrow we will try to stay in a more advanced position”.

LORENZO BALDASSARRI (21st - 2'09"902)
“I'm happy because this afternoon I made a good practice session, lapping with a good pace despite used tyres. In addition, at the end of the second session I made a mistake while I was doing a fast lap: I released the brakes a bit too early and I was touching Sam Lowes in front of me; I had to go wiede and I lost time. In any case, we are competitive and we can still improve in various areas of the track”.

“After the first two practice sessions we find ourselves behind with both riders, but the important thing is that both Xavier and Lorenzo are feeling good with their bikes. Therefore we hope to be able to improve a lot tomorrow in qualifying, because the target as always is to start from a good position on the grid, otherwise the situation will be complicate ahead of the race”.
