Commenting on today's qualifying run, Saavedra says "We have been struggling to find pace and balance since this morning's practice and so that hurt us today in qualifying. The good news is I feel a lot more comfortable with the direction we are going for the race tomorrow and we will have more time to focus on that again tonight. I look forward to having a good final race tomorrow."

Saavedra will be looking to take full advantage of the double points on offer tomorrow night for the final race of the 2014 Verizon IndyCar Series season with the potential of finishing the 17th in the championship standings. His previous best finish in five IndyCar seasons, but just one full season, is 21st last year.

The 24 year-old Colombian will be making just his 22nd career oval start and third at the 2-mile D-shaped Auto Club Speedway. In 20 previous oval races, Saavedra has a best qualifying position of sixth and a best finish of 13th both last year in Milwaukee. His best finish at Fontana is 21st.

The MAVTV 500 will be broadcast live on NBCSports from 9 p.m. ET. on Saturday 30th August. It will also be on XM 209, IMS IndyCar Radio affiliates, plus IndyCar.com and the Verizon INDYCAR 14 app.
