Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ready to Race at Atlanta Motor Speedway


The Atlanta Motor Speedway will welcome Nickelodeon’s iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) for its NASCAR Labor Day weekend, Aug. 29-31, 2014. Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo will bring their fast-action, high-adventure style of fun to the NASCAR Nationwide Series and Sprint Cup Series for a weekend of family entertainment, including a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle-themed car, which will be driven by Nationwide Series driver Chris Buescher.

Chris Buescher, young rookie standout and Mid-Ohio race winner from Roush Fenway Racing (RFR), will race the No.60 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Michelangelo Ford Mustang in Saturday night’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race. Buescher has scored one win, three top-five and eight top-10 finishes in 21 starts in his rookie season. He is currently seventh in the NNS points, despite missing the first race in Daytona after it rained out full qualifying. The No. 60 entry boasts the most wins in NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) history, having been driven to victory lane a grand total of 91 times by celebrated drivers Greg Biffle, Carl Edwards and Mark Martin.

Also at the speedway, fans of all ages will be able to enjoy end-of-the-summer activities chock-full of ‘Turtle power’. The Nickelodeon Kids Zone, located in the Fan Zone adjacent to the main entrance to the speedway, will offer free family fun with appearances from Buescher and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles costumed characters, a TMNT photo station, micro-stock car racing, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles obstacle course, as well as a Turtles-themed cooling lounge and tattoo station. Nick Radio’s J Boogie will be broadcasting from the Nick Radio DJ booth and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles costumed characters will visit the Nickelodeon Kids Zone throughout race day and various surprise locations all weekend.

Special highlights of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on Nickelodeon will air on the in-house monitors Saturday and Sunday before the NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series races. Audio will be available through the track scanner frequency.

Ticket packages for Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles invasion of Atlanta Motor Speedway include the front stretch tickets in the Earnhardt Grandstand. A family of four can see all the Sunday racing action for only $264 with two adult tickets and two children’s tickets for children 12 and under. All children must have a ticket. Nickelodeon is currently airing the second season of the CG-animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. Episodes currently air on Nickelodeon on Friday’s at 7 p.m., with season three set to debut this fall.

Beginning season three, Seth Green (Robot Chicken) will join the voice cast as Leonardo alongside Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings) as Raphael, Rob Paulsen (Planet Sheen) as Donatello, Greg Cipes (Teen Titans) as Michelangelo, Mae Whitman (Parenthood) as April O’Neil, Hoon Lee (Royal Pains) as Master Splinter and Kevin Michael Richardson (Penguins of Madagascar) as Shredder. Josh Peck (Drake & Josh) is Casey Jones, and Corey Feldman (The Goonies) reoccurs as Slash.
