2014 NHRA: Brogdon's Owens Corning Camaro lines up No. 16 for U.S. Nationals

Rodger Brogdon's Owens Corning Camaro will make its first Pro Stock start at the biggest NHRA drag race of the season, the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals, on Monday at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.

Brogdon grabbed the No. 16 qualifying spot out of 21 cars that attempted to make the race, securing the position with a pass of 6.675 seconds at 207.43 mph.

"Of course we want to be much higher up in the order, but we don't always get our way, do we?" Brogdon said. "We haven't had the weekend we all wanted and expected with our new car, but you have to be in it to win it, and we'll give it our best shot tomorrow."

Brogdon secured title sponsorship from Owens Corning (NYSE: OC), the world's largest manufacturer of fiberglass and related products, for Indianapolis and the rest of the season.

"The Pink Panther deserves to be much faster, but Pro Stock is a tough, tough deal," Brogdon said. "We love the way the car looks, and we'd love to see it go quicker, too. I have faith in my guys that we'll be able to pull that off."

Brogdon will square off against No. 1 qualifier Jason Line in the first round of final eliminations. Line, the Pro Stock points leader, had a best lap of 6.589 seconds at 210.01 mph.

Brogdon is returning to the ultra-competitive Pro Stock class for the first time in five races. The top 16 cars are separated by less than a tenth of a second, giving Brogdon a chance to pull off an upset.

"Jason is a good buddy and a great driver," Brogdon said. "He'll be tough to beat, for sure, but we're not just going to lay over. We plan on making it tough on him."
