Grasser Racing Team Ready For The Races In Portugal

The fifth round of the Blancpain Sprint Series will be held in the Algarve, in the very south of Portugal, this weekend. The teams contesting the super sports cars racing series will battle for championship points again less than two weeks after the last event.

The 4.7-km Autódromo Internacional do Algarve has an almost 1-km start/finish straight. Considering its numerous ups and downs and narrow turns, the track is a big challenge for the drivers.

The Austrian Grasser Racing Team had a lot of work to do in the short period of time since the previous round at Slovakia Ring. One of the two Reiter Lamborghini Gallardo FL2 fielded by the team, with Hari Proczyk at the wheel, was pushed off into the gravel right after the start of the race on Sunday. The car was heavily damaged in the process. Thanks to tremendous teamwork, the vehicle was repaired and ready for the upcoming races within just a few days.

As usual, the team will contest the Pro class with the pairing Jeroen Bleekemolen (NLD) and Hari Proczyk (AUT) in Portugal, and the two Austrians Sascha Halek and Stefan Landmann will share a Gallardo for the Pro-Am Trophy. The drivers and the team intend to score many championship points and to battle for the lead in the standings again. They are still in a good position to achieve that goal: Bleekemolen/Proczyk are currently in P3 in the Pro drivers' standings, two points behind the second-placed driver and only 18 points behind the leader. Halek/Landmann, currently in P2 in the Pro-Am-Trophy, a mere 14 points behind P1, are also aiming to take the lead. Grasser Racing is currently in the same places in the team standings.

Team Principal Gottfried Grasser: “We had a lot of work to do after the crash in the last race. A big thank-you to everybody in the team. They did a great job repairing and getting the Gallardo ready for the races. We are eager to get racing at Portimao and have set our sights on finishing at the top of the podium. The season is already coming to a close and we definitely want to have a say in the championship. Each and every point we can score counts.”

Drivers:
#27, Sascha Halek (AUT) / Stefan Landmann (AUT)
#28, Hari Proczyk (AUT) / Jeroen Bleekemolen (NLD)
