Mason Mitchell Finishes Fourth in Final Dirt Race of 2014

Mason Mitchell driver of the No. 98 Musselman's-Wildlife Foundation of Florida-TTS Ford Fusion scored his ninth top-five finish of the 2014 ARCA Racing Series season Monday afternoon at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds after finishing fourth in the 100 lap event. Mitchell captured his fifth pole award of the 2014 season and led the opening 26 laps before settling in the second position.

Mitchell made his way back inside the top-five on lap 66 passing Kenny Schrader and setting his sights on the front four before the caution waved for the fourth and final time. On the final restart Mitchell was able to move around Brennan Poole for the fourth positon and hold off a late challenge from Poole in the closing laps to come across the stripe fourth.

"Overall it was a great day for us" Mitchell said. "We looked at the two dirt races as wildcards and to be able to finish inside the top-five is pretty satisfying. In the big picture we only lost five points to Grant. I am really looking forward to the two intermediate tracks in Kentucky and Kansas as well as Salem. This off weekend will allow us to prepare for the final three races."

Mitchell remains the ARCA Racing Series points leader for the fifth consecutive week in 2014. Mitchell’s lead is now just 20 points over Grant Enfinger with three races left on the schedule.

Next up for Mitchell and the ARCA Racing Series is the Federated Car Care Fall Classic 200 at the high-banked Salem Speedway on Saturday September 13th. Arcaracing.com will have live timing and scoring for all on-track activity including a live audio call via the ARCA Radio Network.
