Extra Security Called For PIRTEK Enduro Cup As Teams Hit Testing Trail

PIRTEK has called in some 'extra security' to look after the PIRTEK Enduro Cup, which is a little over two weeks away.

With Craig Lowndes and Red Bull Racing Australia having hold of the Cup, PIRTEK ambassador, Nathan Hindmarsh called for extra security - in the form of the Raging Bull - his fellow former Rugby League international, Gorden Tallis...who likes the PIRTEK Enduro Cup - but is told that to hold it, You've Gotta Earn It!

The majority of V8 Supercars teams will perform critical tests this week in the lead-up to the PIRTEK Enduro Cup getting underway over the weekend of September 12-14 at Sandown.

Winton in Victoria, as well as Queensland circuits, Morgan Park and Queensland Raceway have been filled with the sounds of V8 Supercars getting the crucial test kilometres under their belt.

One of those under the spotlight this week was defending PIRTEK Enduro Cup Champion, Warren Luff - who joins forces with a different team this year in the resurgent Holden Racing Team, alongside Garth Tander.

“It’s great to be here with the Holden Racing Team and I would love nothing better than to get my first Bathurst victory with the factory Holden team," Luff told V8Supercars.com.au. "Garth at Bathurst – he’s one of those guys that steps up to that next level, so it’s going to be an exciting time for me to pair up with him.”

"You can never write him off in terms of race position. You know he’s going to put his head down, march on and do the very best that he can."

Nissan Motorsport brought its latest international charge, Alex Buncombe to Winton for their test day before he lines up alongside Todd Kelly in the PIRTEK Enduro Cup.

Buncombe is a GT sensation driving as part of the global Nissan Motorsport program in the GT-R Nismo GT3 and took to the Nissan Altima V8 Supercar for the first time on Monday.

“It’s such an exciting car to drive – both in the wet and the dry – but even more so in the wet. You have to be so patient on the throttle," said Buncombe of the Jack Daniel's Racing V8 Supercar.

“Unlike the GT-R Nismo GT3 that I drive in Europe, you have no driver aids on the car, so it’s been back to basics for me. I’m just trying to learn the car, learn from the guys in the team and it’s been an awesome experience."

Erebus Motorsport announced that long-term sponsor, BEKO Appliances would step up to naming rights on the side of the Davison brothers, Alex and Will's #9 Mercedes-AMG E63.

Other teams to test this week included the full Walkinshaw Racing/HRT squad, Ford Performance Racing/Pepsi Max Crew, Brad Jones Racing and Volvo Polestar GRM at Winton, whilst Triple 8 Race Engineering and TEKNO Autosport were testing at Morgan Park in Warwick. Erebus Motorsport tested at Queensland Raceway.

Weather was playing havoc at Winton early in the week with FPR and BJR postponing their tests by 24 hours.

There's no better way to take in the V8 Supercars action than getting up close and personal with the stars of the show at the track.
