The Vienna-based 17-year-old competes for Victory Motor Racing in the prestigious five-event, 16-race series which concludes next month.

As one of only two FIA sanctioned Grand Prix race events outside of Formula One, the Toyota Racing Series attracts Premier Gold Star status, making it a truly world class motorsport event.

"I'm excited to be racing in the Toyota Racing Series this weekend," he commented. "We looked very closely at our options for this year and it felt like a sensible next step in my single-seater career."

In 2014, following his step up from karts, Habsburg finished fourth in Formula Renault 1.6 NEC, scoring four podiums along the way, a great success for his maiden single-seater season.

This weekend, he is racing the new Toyota FT50 single-seater powered by a 1.8-litre, 215bhp engine for the first time.

"Having tested all winter in Formula Renault 2.0, the jump to the Formula FT50 is not so big," commented Habsburg. "Having said that, the cars are great fun to drive and I am very much looking forward to having a successful weekend in Ruapuna. This series is very important to develop my experience in single-seaters and I am looking forward to the intensity that this championship offers.

Practice sessions on the technical 2.05-mile Mike Pero Motorsport Park track for the anticipated 20-plus grid begin on Thursday with qualifying on Friday. The opening 15-lap race is staged on Saturday with another 15-lapper and final 20-lap Lady Wigram Trophy races on Sunday.

Habsburg is the 2014 Rotax DD2 Austrian Champion and was the 2013 Rotax Max Junior Hungarian Champion. He also placed 10th place at the Rotax Grand Finals in New Orleans.
