2017 Bahrain GP: Formula One F1 Practice Three Results - Verstappen, Red Bull Fastest!

By Mike Sulka

Red Bull, really ? Hamilton still playing. After the overnight work was complete, it was Red Bull and Max Verstappen sitting atop the final practice session for the 2017 Bahrain Grand Prix with a lap of 1:32.194 - which was a full second slower than yesterday's fastest laps. Meanwhile, in the paddock, the Red Bull leadership continues to downplay the team's chances for wins or titles.

While all drivers completed runs on the Pirelli red tyres - super softs - Lewis Hamilton's took the longest to set a time. The Briton clocked in his fastest lap of the day at the very end of the session, but was still a tenth off the Red Bull. We still don't believe Hamilton has showed his cards since he clearly backed off on a couple of runs.

Sebastian Vettel and his No. 5 "flexible" Ferrari was way off his pace from yesterday, and was third quick.

It would seem the gamesmanship is rampant among the contenders.

As for more public charges of flexing, you might recall that flexing is required to run a F1 car at full speed due to the aerodynamic forces - least that shatter and break. But, the FIA do test for too much flexing. So far, Ferrari have cleared those hurdles so the charges ring hollow.

Valtteri Bottas was fourth quick, and just behind Vettel with Kimi Raikkonen in the mix, but not really.

Next up, qualifying for the 2017 Bahrain Grand Prix where all will likely be revealed.
