2017 Bahrain: Formula One Wednesday Results & Recap

By Mike Sulka

Holy laps! Valtteri Bottas and his No. 77 Mercedes turned a whopping 143 laps today which was nearly triple the distance of Sunday's Bahrain Grand Prix. Bottas also set the top time of the day at 1:31.280. The team focused again on long runs on the Pirelli tyres.

Sebastian Vettel and his No. 5 Ferrari was second quick, but the team was slowed by a power outage, apparently caused by the tyre blankets.

Carlos Sainz wants to race for a big three team in 2018, today he continued in his normal job at Toro Rosso for 68 laps.

Look at that... a McLaren Honda actually ran today without any major issues, a first according to Stoffel Vandoorne. The team even reported "pushing" a bit and where fourth quick. Even so, the duct tape held together! A good sign. The key will be acquiring a second roll for Alonso's sled.

Red Bull were slowed today by a "mechanical issue", and were well back in the pack.

Today was the last day of testing. Next up, the 2017 Russian Grand Prix in Sochi.
