2017 Charlotte (All-Star): Cole Whitt NASCAR Monster Energy Race Preview

Cole Whitt, driver of the RTIC Coolers No. 72, will compete in the Monster Energy Open on Saturday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway for a chance to advance to the Monster Energy All-Star Race.

Drivers not already locked into the All Star will vie for an entry by participating in the three-stage Open which precedes the All-Star event. Each stage winner, along with the Monster Energy All-Star Fan Vote, will secure a starting position in the Monster Energy All-Star Race and contend for the coveted $1 million payout.

Whitt is one of 22 drivers eligible for the Monster Energy All-Star Fan Vote. Winning the fan vote would automatically secure Whitt a starting position in the Monster Energy All-Star lineup. Fans can vote online at www.NASCAR.com/FanVote until 11:59 p.m. EDT Friday.

Whitt's No. 72 for TriStar Motorsports will feature RTIC Coolers as the primary sponsor. RTIC Coolers, the official cooler and drinkware of TriStar Motorsports, offers a variety of products that are ideal from the backyard to the outback and even more so at the race track. Being over built, not over-priced, RTIC offers top-quality coolers and drinkware at a fraction of the price of comparable products. To learn more or to purchase RTIC products, visit www.RTICCoolers.com.

Qualifying for the Open will begin Saturday at 4:35 p.m. EDT with two rounds to set the field. The Open will follow at 6 p.m. EDT and will be comprised of three stages ; 20 laps, 20 laps, and 10 laps for a total of 70-laps. Each stage winner will advance to the All-Star race at 8 p.m. EDT. All on-track activity will be aired live on FS1.
