Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Heads for WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca

By Mark Robinson IMSA Wire Service

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Following its longest break since the 2020 season began, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America championship resumes with two races this weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Most of the familiar faces are back to compete in the four classes, along with a number of drivers making their season debuts. A season-high total of 19 cars are entered.

Madison Snow returns to the cockpit of the No. 16 Change Racing, Lamborghini Charlotte Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO, where he holds an 11-point lead in the Pro class. Snow won both races in the series’ most recent round at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on Labor Day weekend.

Steven Aghakhani and Jacob Eidson have captured two Pro class wins in the No. 6 US RaceTronics, Lamborghini Beverly Hills Huracán to sit 11 points behind Snow in the standings. A single point behind the No. 6 drivers is Brandon Gdovic in the No. 46 Precision Performance Motorsports, Lamborghini Palm Beach Huracán. The Pro class is bolstered by the debut of Taylor Proto in the No. 50 US RaceTronics, Lamborghini Westlake Huracán.

ProAm contains four entries, including class-leading Corey Lewis and McKay Snow in the No. 63 Change Racing, Lamborghini Charlotte Huracán. They’ve combined to win four races and have a 10-point gap on Leo Lamelas, a two-time class winner this season in the No. 24 US RaceTronics, Lamborghini Westlake Huracán.

The Am class sees its most entries this season, four, to intensify the competition for Victor Gomez IV, who’s won all six races to date this year in the No. 29 Change Racing, Lamborghini Charlotte Huracán. Competing in their first races of the season in Am will be Brian Thienes in the No. 17 US RaceTronics, Lamborghini Beverly Hills Huracán and Mel Johnson and Jon Hirshberg in the No. 286 US RaceTronics, Lamborghini Newport Beach Huracán.

The LB Cup class has five cars entered, including class leader and four-time race winner Randy Sellari in the No. 03 Change Racing, Lamborghini Charlotte Huracán. Making their season debut in the No. 38 TPC Racing, Lamborghini Sterling entry will be Trevor Andrusko and Scott Schmidt.

Lamborghini Super Trofeo action begins Friday at WeatherTech Raceway with a pair of practices. Separate qualifying sessions for each race occur Saturday morning, ahead of the 50-minute races at 4:40 p.m. ET Saturday and 1:25 p.m. Sunday. Each race will stream live on IMSA.com.
