Boom! Josef Newgarden and his No. 2 Team Penske Chevrolet led the second practice for the 2019 Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indianapolis, Indiana with a lap of 228.856 Mph. The speed was down a bit from yesterday's 229.745 Mph set by Will Power.

Ganassi IndyCar driver Scott Dixon was second fastest today at 228.856 Mph with Spencer Pigot just behind at 228.658 Mph.

Santino Ferrucci was fourth fastest while Helio Castroneves (fifth) was the only driver to appear in the top-five on both days. Amazingly, he turned the exact same time today as yesterday. Watch that consistency, it can be a hint as to who is really fast.

Two-time Formula One F1 drivers champion Fernando Alonso had a rough day after hitting the Turn Three wall with his No. 66 McLaren Racing Chevrolet. He had "understeer and lost completely the front aero". His McLaren crew will be working hard to return the car to track for tomorrow's practice. He was 29th on the timesheets today.

Overall, all 36 IndyCars lapped the Speedway within .78 seconds of each other.

Tomorrow, practice will continue.
